Keri Logosso-Misurell, Esq.

Keri is a 1992 graduate of the College of NJ and a 1999 graduate of Seton Hall Law School. Upon graduation, Keri completed a two year Equal Justice Works Fellowship at the Association for Children of NJ where she performed welfare outreach and advocacy. Keri went on to work in the private sector as a litigation associate at Lowenstein Sandler and then clerked for U.S. Magistrate Judge Patty Schwartz. In 2003, she became a founding staff member of the Office of the Child Advocate where she served as Director of Children’s Health. Keri left the Office in January 2006 to become Governor Corzine’s Health Policy Advisor.

As Health Policy Advisor to the Governor, Keri worked on health policy matters such as access to quality health care, the elimination of waste, fraud, and abuse within the healthcare delivery system, mental health, developmental disabilities, and senior issues. She served as the Governor’s policy liaison to the Department of Health and Senior Services and the Department of Human Services and advised the Office of the Treasurer and the Office of Management and Budget on health policy as it related to the state budget. In addition, Keri worked with interest groups, industry stakeholders, and the Governor’s Press Office to address policy concerns and to strategize around the implementation of the Governor’s health policy priorities.

Keri left the Governor’s Office in December 2008 to return to her roots advocating for children and families. From December 2007 – September 2008, she served as Director of the Office of Child Health Services within the New Jersey Department of Children and Families, where her primary responsibility was developing a system of healthcare for children in foster care.

Outside of the office, Keri is an active alumnus of Leadership New Jersey (2007 Fellow), member of the Essex County Bar Association, and a Board Member and volunteer with Jersey Cares Organization, a Newark based non-profit that promotes volunteerism and community involvement.

Tonya Bewley earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a concentration in Human Services from Pine Manor College in Massachusetts. She started out as a volunteer here at Wynona’s House then accepting a position as our Program Assistant and Resource Development Specialist since June of 2008. Tonya is involved in many aspects of Wynona’s House including researching, coordinating and submitting grants. She also coordinates numerous events and volunteer efforts as well as handles the donations that come into the center.

 

Before coming to Wynona’s House, Tonya worked with the non-profit agency Excellent Education for Everyone established here in Newark, New Jersey. Tonya advocated for parents through a Supplemental Education Service program that gave available resources for school testing opportunities in order to ensure the child’s developmental abilities were considered and acknowledged. She provided families with information about tutoring opportunities, before and after-school programs and informed parents on better educational opportunities for their children.

 

Tonya has also worked in the Development and Alumnae Relations Offices at her alma mater. While attending Pine Manor College she researched and coordinated grants, as well as handled prospective donors. She was also in charge of mentoring programs in which she worked toward gaining 12 ½ % new memberships. Tonya is a lifelong resident of East Orange, New Jersey.

Manuela Prince holds a Masters of Social Work from University of Pittsburgh. Manuela has recently joined our team as a Child & Family Advocate. As our Child & Family Advocate, Manuela will focus on supporting our non-offending caregivers’ through case management, education, referrals, and assistance. Manuela will also be providing psycho-education for caregivers and will be facilitating a nutrition education curriculum for our families in partnership with Rutgers Newark. Manuela is continually providing outreach to our families. Before coming to Wynona's House Manuela worked as at Center for Victims of Violence in Crime, in Pittsburgh, PA as a Victim Advocate at Juvenile Court in Allegheny County. As Victim Advocate, Manuela advocated for anyone who was victimized by a juvenile. Her advocacy included court accompaniment, forensic interview accompaniment, making necessary referrals for victim compensation and therapy, and provided crisis intervention. Manuela has also worked at Glade Run a residential treatment facility for abused children as a Mental Health Worker. At Glade Run, Manuela worked in the adolescent girls unit, where she provided therapeutic groups and behavior management to the girls. Manuela is new to the area and is looking forward to getting to know our community and our families.


Nicole Slavik

Nicole Slavik started as an Intern with Wynona’s House in the fall of 2009. Upon graduating from Montclair State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Family and Child Studies and a certificate in Child Advocacy, Nicole became the Data Entry Specialist for Wynona’s House---calculating the Center’s monthly statistical reports, entering pertinent case information into the Center’s database NCATrak, and also served as point person for questions related to the database. In the summer of 2010, Nicole was promoted to Program Assistant, supporting the Executive Director and other staff members with various projects. In her current role as the Acting Multidisciplinary Team Coordinator (MDT Coordinator), Nicole works in conjunction with the Center’s onsite partners---the Division of Youth and Family Services, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, and medical and behavioral personnel from the Regional Diagnostic and Treatment Center of Newark Beth Israel Medical Center---to advocate for child victims of abuse and their non-offending caregiver through daily case review and follow-up, weekly intake meetings, and monthly MDT case review with the Center’s core MDT members. Nicole has attended multiple trainings and conferences on the subject of Child Abuse and Neglect and is certified in Finding Words New Jersey. Nicole also serves as the Center’s back-up Forensic Interviewer and on occasion conducts interviews of sexually and physically abused children. Nicole is a native of Germany and has been a resident of Montclair, New Jersey for the past 6 years.
